Reflective Narrative:
2.1 MLO2 mainly focus on Japanese culture where students develop a comprehensive understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of Japanese culture: perspectives, practices, and products. By taking JAPN 380, this class was allowed me to look more deeply into Japan's geography, social issues, and cultural practices. In some sections, we would discuss the origin of Hanami in regards to perspective, practice, and product. First discussing what is Hanami and why Japanese people celebrate Hanami. I believe this MLO has contributed to my personal growth by broadening my perspectives of Japan and its culture.
2.2 Before studying abroad and before taking some class here at CSUMB I felt that I had a really superficial outlook of Japanese culture. By taking classes here, I have learned in great detail why some cultural practices are perform or done a certain way as well as understand the origin of where some cultural products have originated and why they are still popular today.
